Crystals and Astrology

In traditional lore the healing qualities of minerals, or the healing crystals, generally remain subjective. Yet as the symbolic meaning of the crystals became part of the collective unconscious, their psychological or psychic qualities were thought to have an effect on our mind and body. As a crystal healer myself the gemstones are my everyday must-haves. I use them for daily healing and depends on the planetary ruler of the day and my need I carry associated crystals, most of the time I wear them in form of pendant or bracelets. I also use crystals to cleanse the aura of myself and space around me. In the past I perform crystal healing therapy on my clients, usually I would perform chakra clearing / balancing. Now I have spent more time on essential oils and tarot readings. Still crystals are always a part of me and they come in very handy whenever I need an extra boost of mojo to amplify sending positive energies to someone.

There is a direct link between crystals and astrology, since the Sun, Moon and Stars, as well as the Earth are all rocks. Crystals are also called the indigo children of heaven and earth. One reason attributable to the mineral facilities of healing is their ability to transmit and absorb light from the Sun. One interesting fact I learned is that there is a very potent link between human beings, the Earth and the Sun. The Earth’s equator inclines 23 ½ degrees towards the Sun in its orbit around the solar disc; this reflects the same inclination of the human heart towards the left side of the body also at 23 ½ degrees. Our human design is not coincidence. There is a direct link with the Sun, the Earth and the human heart. In astrology the Sun is associated with the heart. Such glimpse of knowledge of the divine plan humbles me.

The colours of the crystals. The variance of colour depends upon absorption and transmission of light bringing them beauty and radiance. The geometry of the crystals defines the metaphysical properties of the individual piece. Planetary rulership of plants and crystals serves as a guide for selection, and ultimately choice must always rest with the intuitive understanding of the astrologer.

My interests are in the mineral kingdom (crystals), the plant kingdom (essential oils) and the kingdom of the soul (astrology and the metaphysics). All of them correspond to each other, with lifetime study I want to become a better holistic healer to heal people’s mind, body and spirit.

My Aromatic Medicine Chest

At home I have over 100 bottles of essential oils. I like to collect them just like how I collect my tarot decks.  They can last for very long time if they are stored properly. Each time only a few drops will be used.  The quickest one that goes out of stock is true lavender.  I replace her probably once every three months.  The slowest are many.  I have a bottle of benzoin I hardly use because she is so thick to drop and not willing to leave the bottle at all!  Gorgeous vanilla scent though.

Some people ask me for the most useful esssential oils.  I recommend 5 of them, those are invaluable oils to keep in the home medicine chest, or to take with you when traveling.

Lavender – ruled by Mercury, she is a great help for balancing nervous system, especially for stress-related issues.  Use in a vapourizer or with 5 to 6 drops in a running bath. Just enjoy the scent and allow your mind to rest.  Also very useful when there is a cut wound.  Direct neat application onto the wound speeds up healing. A drop on the pillow promotes sleep.

Tea Tree – he is good for skin acne.  Also invaluable for its antiseptic, fungicidal, antiviral and immune-stimulant properties.  Ruled by Saturn he is so powerful I will dilute tea tree with carrier oil before application.

Rosemary – ruled by the Sun she has stimulant properties on our mental and nervous systems.  A protective essential oil that I use for cleansing in my spiritual rituals.  She is strengthening, restorative, purifying, reviving and refreshing.  I also vapourise it together with lemon essential oil to boost memory.

Roman Chamomile – ruled by the Moon she is the best children’s remedy. A mild relaxant and anti-inflammatory agent.  This oil smells lovely, very mild and encourages sleep and relaxation.  Excellent for treating insomnia and nervous tension.

Peppermint – I love everything peppermint!  Ruled by Mercury not only it is good for digestive complaints such as nausea or indigestion, it is also indispensable for problems in our respiratory system.  And if you have fever, try drink some peppermint tea to reduce the heat.

Oral prescription however is not advised.  It should only be practiced by suitably trained medical doctors, who, like qualified herbalists, have undergone many years of training.

Hope you will have an opportunity to try them out. These 5 oils are generally safe and good for home remedies.

Cancer, who are you?

I love to stay home.  This is what my love said to me every time when I ask what he likes to do in the evening.  I mean every time.  He is not the nerdy sort, just someone with a Cancer ascendant and a Cancer moon (double whammy) in his birth chart.  My mum too, she has heavy Cancer elements in her chart.  So I have two most important person of my life very protective, and possessive.  There is nothing shallow or superficial about the feelings of a Cancer person. When she owns a man, or a tea cup, it is hers forever. But they are never jealous.  They just want the best of me as family members are of prime importance to them.

People born under the sign of the crab aren’t necessarily stingy, but they have this little habit of saving things.  You could say it is a compulsion. They will seldom throw away things, their husbands inclusive.  Who are you to say they won’t find a purpose for those used old bottles, ticket stubs and broken Christmas ornaments?  Everything has a sentimental value, including cancelled cheques in 1985 and their old boy scout badges. They treasure the things they own and guard them like a crab.  That, of course, include you.

With your lover born under the Cancer sign, when things don’t go her way, she may shed a few quiet tears alone, but her normal reaction will be to wait patiently for things to right themselves.  Patience is one of her loveliest virtues.  When she is depressed, you have to take her out and try to catch her before she dwell herself too deep.  She loves to be close by the sea, and go for a walk in the moonlight. This will lift her worries away.

I once knew a Cancerian mum who told me she would let her little son ran around the park to get his steam off after school.  Then her son would say to her, ‘Let’s go home mum.  I am hungry.’  This sums up a Cancerian’s power of love.  It is her strange brand of possessiveness that is unshakable, but never aggressive.  She knows, in her secret heart, that no matter how far you go to follow your dream, you will always come back again and she will be patiently waiting. Her kitchen will smell deliciously of warm spices, she will fill your stomach.  When things go badly she will give you her moon magic to gently smooth away your worries with her sensible advice.

Note: These personality traits are most prominent in people whose natal chart has (1) Cancer on the Ascendant (2) Moon in Cancer (3) Sun in Cancer (4) 3 or more planets in Cancer, or a mixture of the above.

Palmistry: let’s learn together (Part 2)

Give a brief outline of what a mount is.

The mounts are fleshy elevations on the palm.  Hold the palm outstretched at eye level to ascertain which mounts are high or low.  High mounts – the evaluation of the qualities become stronger.  Note the mounts that are most prominent, then combine their meanings.

How many areas is the palm of the hand divided into?

The palm is divided into nine areas.  They are the key to our natural abilities and emotional traits.  Each area is called a mount, which sounds as though there is a point or hump in each section.  This is not the case.  It has been traditionally term to designate the different qualifications of each area.

Name four of these areas and list where they are found.

Mount Jupiter – under the first finger.

Mount Saturn – under the second finger.

Mount Apollo – under the third finger.

Mount Mercury – under the fourth finger.

Give a full interpretation of the following mount areas:

  • Mount of Luna

The mount area of Luna represents imagination, intuition, creative ability, and motivation.  It is a large area so it must be examined carefully to determine the exact location of the apex or precise spot of development.  Luna has varied physical forms.  It can bulge in spots or all over.  It can be thin and almost flat.  There may be few lines or many.  It may have the colour of a lot of blood or a little.  All of these things have a meaning.  When developed towards Upper Mars – the practical dreamer is able to apply imaginative ideas to everyday needs.  If the entire percussion bulges – need for physical activity combined with some creative project.  Near the wrist – sensuality, sometimes just imaginative.  Towards Venus – romantic, emotional.  Towards the Plain of Mars – aggressiveness to further one’s ability.  All of these types are intensified if the mount shows a reddish colour.  A bluish colour – sadness, even melancholia enters the imagination, such as the gloomy poet or composer.  Pale colour – may possess any one of the qualifications for the specific type, but indifference would be evident unless pressure were exerted.

  • Monunt of Upper Mars

This area, located between Mercury and Luna on the percussion side of the palm, represents endurance, bravery, fortitude and resistance.  This is a passive form as opposed to the activity of Lower Mars, but it takes both for balance.  Higher or stronger towards Mercury – nothing can defeat this person in business or profession, very persistent.  Towards the centre of the palm, the Plain of Mars – guard against over aggressiveness.  Towards Luna – take advantage of imaginative inspirational qualities, such as an attorney who can sway a jury by his choice of words.  Towards the percussion – physical reserve.  Overdeveloped – cruelty.  Absent – morbid, always on the defensive.

  • Mount of Jupiter

The mount area of Jupiter normally represents ambition and social prestige.  If the development is closer to the side of the palm, family pride is the chief ambition; closer to the head line, leadership, a desire for authority.  Here, arrogance would have to be subdued.  Placed near Saturn, scholarly attributes.  If the area is very high or large, conceit.  Generally, idealism is the keynote for Jupiter.

  • Mount of Saturn

This mount is seldom highly developed.  Usually it partakes of either or both Jupiter and Apollo.  Saturn itself is the epitome of sobriety.  Love of solitude, cautiousness, and mental reserve are the characteristics.  Developed close to the heart line – the qualities magnify.  Towards Jupiter – very serious viewpoint about life.  Towards Apollo – genuine interest in the arts; sentiment becomes important.  Very active Saturnians, those with spatulate fingers, have the ability for sturdy occupations such as mining or agriculture.  Absent of the mount – indifference, periods of morbidness, often antisocial, a realist with little care for anyone.

Moving to a New Office

Last month I moved to a new office. It was on the same floor but in a different area with slightly smaller size. I didn’t think I would love the move but after I decorated the space I was happy about it. The walls were built so thin that everyone could hear my laughers, and sarcasm while I was on the phone. I got some new neighbours as well and was looking forward to sending them my positive vibes. I just hope I wouldn’t scare them off with my occasional voodoos!

I picked an auspicious time to move into the office. The Moon was angular in the first house with lots of accidental dignities. She was in Gemini which was the same as my natal Moon. Her next aspect was to trine Venus. It was important that the next aspect of the Moon for her to see a benefic. Ruler of the chart was Mercury and he too was accidentally dignified in the angular seventh house. He was with Saturn by conjunction, likely to have lots of responsibilities in this position. But it was a working environment after all.

The tenth house which governed career and public reputation was ruled by Jupiter – the great benefic. A lot of expansion and business opportunities would be expected.

I also like a dignified Venus in this chart. Venus was in Libra in her own sign. She looked after relationship issues and was the Goddess of beauty. I felt I needed some flowers in my office to honour her.

Finally the axis was mutable, making the residence very mobile. I intended to not stay in this office for too long. I would rather be travelling or move on to some place else should great opportunities arise. My last office I had a fixed axis in my election chart. I stayed for 3 years before I moved. I was intrigued to find out how long I would stay in this one.

Electional astrology is a helpful tool in finding auspicious moment in our lives to start something important and exciting.
